    Future Continuous Tense

    This lecture introduces the concept of tenses in English, explaining present, past, and future forms with basic examples.

    Definition

    The Future Continuous Tense describes an action that will be in progress at a specific time in the future.

    Example:

    We will be studying for the exam next month.

    Structure Formation
    1️⃣ Affirmative Form

    Traditional Rule:

    •  Subject (I, We) + shall be + verb + ing
    •  Subject (You, He, She, They, It, singular/plural noun) + will be + verb + ing

    Modern English(Recommended for students):

    Subject + will be + verb + ing + object/complement

    Example:

    •  They will be living in London next year.
    2️⃣ Negative Form

    Structure:

    Subject + will/shall + not + be + verb + ing + object

    Examples:

    • They will not be living in London next year.
    • I will not be studying tonight.

    (Contracted form: won’t be)

    3️⃣ Interrogative Form

    Structure:

    Will/Shall + subject + be + verb + ing + object?

    Example:

            Will they be living in London next year?

    4️⃣ Negative Interrogative Form

    Structure:

    Will/Shall + subject + not + be + verb + ing + object?

    Example:

            Will they not be living in London next year?

    (Contracted: Won’t they be living in London next year?)

    5️⃣ Wh-Question Form

    Structure:

    Question Word + will/shall + subject + be + verb + ing + object?

    Example:

            Why will they be living in London next year?

    Uses of Future Continuous Tense
    1️⃣ Action in Progress at a Specific Time in the Future

    Used to describe an action that will be happening at a particular moment in the future.

    Example:

    This time tomorrow, I will be travelling to Lahore.

    2️⃣ Parallel Future Actions

    Used to show two actions happening at the same time in the future.

    Example:

    While you will be sleeping, I will be working.

    3️⃣ Planned or Arranged Future Activities

    Used for fixed or planned future events (especially longer activities).

    Example:

    They will be living in London next year.

    Commonly Used Verbs

    This tense is often used with verbs like:

    ·  spend

    ·  stay

    ·  play

    ·  sit

    ·  work

    ·  study

    ·  lie

    Common Mistakes in Future Continuous

    ❌ She will working tomorrow.

    ✅ She will be working tomorrow.

    ❌ They will living in London next year.

    ✅ They will be living in London next year.

    ❌ I will be study tonight.

    ✅ I will be studying tonight.

    ❌ When he will be coming, we will leave.

    ✅ When he comes, we will leave.

    After when, before, after, if, unless, as soon as, do NOT use “will”.

    Exam Tips

    Remember this formula:

    Future time reference + action in progress = Future Continuous

    Example signals:

    ·        this time tomorrow

    ·        at 5 p.m. next week

    ·        next month at this time
